About The Muslimah Psychology
The Muslimah Psychology was developed to help Muslim women access therapy that aligns with their worldview, so they can feel comfortable talking about their difficulties and struggles without judgment. The Muslimah Psychology allows people to comfortably talk about religion and culture, and their doubts and struggles with it, with peace of mind that the therapy will align with their principles. The Muslimah Psychology also shares free resources on mental health and offers mental health workshops.
Many women from ethnic minorities do not seek support, or when they have, they have felt their culture and family dynamics were not understood in mainstream therapy. They also felt that religion was not respectfully understood or they were directed to something that did not align with their faith. The Muslimah Psychology was created to close that gap by offering a space where your faith and culture are understood, not sidelined, so you can access support that truly fits who you are.
About The TherapistTestimonials
I didn’t think the sessions would help me, but I felt much better at the end and had a clear plan for what I was going to do moving forward, whenever I feel lonely and sad again.
I have had therapy in the past, but I have not been truly understood like I have by Amina, because she understands the cultural and religious complications of things. That made it much easier than when I had therapy with the NHS, where I had to explain everything to them and then felt judged.
I thought I was going crazy, as I was stuck in a loop of overthinking and anxiety, and I felt I was being punished by Allah. After therapy, I felt like I knew the patterns that kept coming up emotionally, and I could break that cycle with the techniques I’d learnt. I felt really comfortable bringing my deeper thoughts and doubts about my faith that I couldn’t share with my family, as I was scared I’d be judged. In therapy, it was a relief to just say it and know I wouldn’t be judged.
I’m grateful for therapy with Amina, she totally understood my culture and family dynamics, and that really helped make a difference in understanding my anger and emotions. I’ve had therapy with NHS Talking Therapies before, but I didn’t feel like the cultural side was understood, and I felt awkward talking about it. Amina helped me understand the cycle of anxiety and also helped me gain the confidence to ask for my needs without feeling guilty about it.
Within 30 minutes into the therapy, I already felt clarity and understanding about myself. Amina is a very good therapist I would highly recommend her.
